Games with multiple facets and continuous lives

Healthy development is the basis of everything and the condition for doing anything; it should, therefore, never be taken for granted.

Hi, I’m Bell Telem, an educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, specializing in posture development, and the founder of B SmART ’n PLAY.

From the beginning of my professional path, I was drawn to working with children through movement, play, and social interaction. I began as a swimming instructor and later led developmental sports groups for young children, where I saw how play can build confidence, connection, and a sense of capability. Alongside this, I worked with women in fitness and body conditioning.

My approach evolved through life itself. While raising my three children across seven countries, I closely observed how children adapt, grow, and rebuild a sense of belonging in constantly changing environments. Being immersed in diverse educational settings, from nurseries to middle schools, gave me first-hand insight into how different approaches shape children’s development.

Out of this journey, a concept gradually took form, integrating movement, play, imagination, and human connection into one cohesive developmental experience.

After settling in New Jersey, I published my book,
B SmART ’n PLAY (2017), bringing together the foundations of the approach and offering practical tools for applying it at home and in educational and therapeutic settings.

Over the years, working closely with hundreds of children, through one-on-one swimming instruction and teaching Hebrew, gave me a deep understanding of children’s emotional worlds and learning rhythms. These experiences reinforced the importance of meeting each child where they are, and revealed play as a powerful bridge for learning, communication, and connection.

This play-based model has since come to life through workshops, classes, enrichment programs, camps, school collaborations, and community initiatives. Hundreds of diverse projects have emerged, all rooted in one core idea: a multi-purpose play framework that nurtures creativity, curiosity, confidence, and a deep sense of belonging.

In recent years, I have also expanded this work to older adults in senior living communities, exploring how the same play-based principles that support development in children can also help preserve cognitive, motor, and social abilities in later stages of life, in a way that is respectful, engaging, and adaptable to each individual’s level.

Today, I train and mentor educators, therapists, and caregivers, sharing the approach I’ve developed and practiced over many years.

Because when children reconnect to themselves, to others, and to the joy of real play, meaningful growth naturally follows.
